Apply Direct Rule on Northern Ireland unless the Assembly is restored
Rejected
9 signatures
What the petition asks
Give Northern Ireland politicians an imminent deadline to restore the Assembly. If the deadline passes without the Assembly being restored, apply Direct Rule.
Northern Ireland has not had a functioning Government since February 2022. The people of Northern Ireland are suffering as a result. Departments need political direction to prosper and provide services. The most vulnerable are suffering. Children need schools to be fully functioning. The sick need a fully functioning health service. Those in need of financial support need support from the Government. Immediate action is needed.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
The status of the Northern Ireland Assembly is a matter for voters in Northern Ireland and the political parties, not the UK Government.
You could start a petition calling on the Government to give the people of Northern Ireland a public vote on reversing devolution, if that is something you'd like to happen.
