What the petition asks

The Government should make it clear that all single-sex spaces can exclude people of the other biological sex without having to prove it is "a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim". There has been considerable social media coverage about biological men entering women-only spaces.

I am a personal trainer and I am an advocate of women-only areas in gyms. Many women, such as those from certain faiths, don't wish to exercise before men. The Equality Act should be updated so that all woman-only spaces can exclude biological men.

I believe that allowing transgender people into such areas can make women uncomfortable and can expose the transgender person to physical and verbal abuse. It's protection for both sides.
