Stop UK nurseries charging parents for Bank and National holidays
Rejected
13 signatures
What the petition asks
Private nurseries are able to charge parents on Bank and National holidays, when they are closed. This year there has been nine holidays (three in May alone). On average it costs a parent £60 - £80 a day for childcare.
It is unfair for parents to have to pay these fees whilst also needing to find alternative childcare solutions. Childcare is already extortionate enough without parents being penalised for Government induced holidays. Paying £60 - £80 for something you are unable to use is unacceptable.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
The pricing, and opening times, of privately provided childcare are matters for individual providers and parents, not the UK Government or Parliament.
