Require schools to have appropriate uniform rules for hot weather

What the petition asks
We want schools to be required by law to have appropriate uniform rules for hot weather. Currently many children are forced to wear uncomfortable clothing to school in summer eg. blazers, heavy skirts, ties and long trousers.
This is a nationwide issue, with over 9 million school children and many schools unable to afford improved ventilation, Government leadership is required.
We want practical low and no cost changes to the uniform rules. In hot weather schools should be required to allow children to wear shorts and thin skirts, with no ties or blazers.
If children are hot, uncomfortable or dehydrated it does affect their concentration..
With our young people’s physical and mental health in mind we must allow them to dress appropriately for their learning environment.
