Require annual mental health evaluations for police officers
Closed
107 signatures
What the petition asks
To make it compulsory for each police force to evaluate the mental health of its officers, in addition to normal performance reviews. This should help identify any mental health issues, such as PTSD, at an early stage, so appropriate support can be provided.
Around 1 in 5 adults suffer mental health problems. Yet at present the evaluation of the mental health of police officers varies considerably. A simple yearly screening should help identify issues if they have arisen. Early identification will allow police forces to identify issues early and take action to support officers with mental health issues.
