Review Class V vessel requirements for category A & B canal boats

What the petition asks
I believe that the current regulations for Class V Canal boats are not fit for purpose on category A & B waters across the UK. Some of these regulations have been put in place in response to the sinking of the Marchioness, but this vessel was based on a river, not category A & B canals.
The various canal organisations and charities using the canals for tourism, as well as our historical heritage, are at risk due to the high cost of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and survey requirements. I believe that these are extreme for canal boats on category A & B waters.
