What the petition asks

We urgently request that the House of Commons encourages the government to take action to increase the availability of more permanent accommodation in all areas and to reduce the numbers of people living in temporary accommodation.

We recognised that the City and County of Swansea has taken action to combat homelessness on the streets of Swansea with their pledge to provide overnight accommodation. This is of great benefit to homeless people. However, we are concerned about the numbers of people in temporary accommodation, the length of time they spend there and the funding of services to support them.

Why it was rejected

There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.

Housing is a devolved policy area in Wales, so increasing accommodation for homeless people in Wales is the responsibility of the Welsh Government and local authorities in Wales, not the UK Government or Parliament.
