Tighten rules and cut back on what expenses MP's can claim.

Rejected 11 signatures

What the petition asks

Tighten the rules and cut back on what expenses MP's can claim as many take advantage of taxpayers money and claim extortionate amounts on top of their annual salary.
Johnny Mercer, Conservative MP for Plymouth Moor View, claimed an extortionate £246,930.60 in the year of 2022. How is claiming almost £4750 a week of taxpayers money, on top of his normal salary, reasonable?

Cut backs have been made in all other aspects of government and life in general so why not here?

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
