Protect disabled people more in a workplace
Rejected
11 signatures
What the petition asks
I want the government to make a law to be able to protect and make it illegal for workplaces to lay off or sack disabled individuals or not even give them a chance at employment just because they can’t meet their needs.
I want the Government/ Parliament to do this because it goes in recognised and not many disabled people speak up about this issue and it’s getting bigger in employment with disability discrimination
Why it was rejected
The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.
The Equality Act 2010 already makes it illegal for employers to discriminate against someone because they have a disability, and requires employers to make reasonable adjustments to make sure workers with disabilities are not substantially disadvantaged when doing their jobs.
If someone with a disability has been discriminated against by an employer, or an employer has failed to make reasonable adjustments, they may be able to bring a claim against their employer.
