Look at the fit and proper ownership of all professional sports teams

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

To make sure that owners of football clubs have the funds and ability to keep the clubs running.

Look and enacting laws that make ‘fit and proper’ tests ones that actually work for the 6th tier upwards.

I support Southend United and I want our club to be the last to be in this position.
Southend Utd are on the edge of extinction after 117 years due to financial mismanagement,

I propose that the ‘fit & proper’ tests be debated & reviewed

I propose 4 tests

1- F&P tests carried out bi-annually

2- Proof that all creditors can be covered for in 18 month period based on accounts/creditors @ date X

3- All accounts published from previous 2 yr cycle within 6 months of new cycle starting

4- 3 or more court dates for debts within a 2 yr cycle club licence is provisionally suspended

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

It's not clear if you want the Government to impose new regulations on the management of all professional sports teams, or just the top six tiers of the football league system.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
