Petition · past parliament

Transfer the Crown Estates off shore wind farm ownership to the public purse.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Take ownership of the offshore winds farms currently owned by the crown estate, use the profits to re-invest in more green energy and use the supply of electricity to dampen prices in times of crises.
To drive the green agenda and re-distribute wealth and profits which the crown estate pays to the sovereign grant fund.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We understand that you are concerned about any profits made by off shore wind farms within the Crown Estate, but we're not exactly sure what you'd like to happen.

The Crown Estate's income, including from offshore wind, is returned to the UK Government Treasury. The Sovereign Grant is calculated as 25% of the income from two years previously. The Government has announced that from next year, this will be reduced to 12% of the Crown Estate's net profits. We could accept a petition calling for this to be further reduced, so that more of the revenue is available to investment by the Government.
