Let carers keep their allowance – don’t reduce their other benefits

What the petition asks
Carers undertake daily responsibility for the care and protection of another person. Yet many, forced by circumstance to rely on benefits - so they can be with their cared-for-person - face deductions.
The clapping has stopped, now please stand up for carers.
Disability benefits are, rightly, protected from means testing. Not to have done so, would mean that what was given with one hand, would be snatched by another.
Those caring for many of these people, are not afforded the same recognition. Many will still see their Carer's Allowance swallowed up by reductions in other benefits.
This isn’t just about money either, there is a neglectful principle at play; the demoralising dismissal of the carer role and denial of the needs of carers, separate from those they care for.
