To impose criminal charges on those who make false sex offence allegations
Rejected

What the petition asks
Those who willingly make false reports of any sexual offence to the police resulting a lengthy time wasting investigation should receive criminal charges
More and more people are suffering due to false allegations of sexual offences, when it is proven that the false accuser has lied, the police do nothing about it. The torture of those who are falsely accused is unreal. Mental health declines, jobs are lost, families are torn apart. Those who make false accusations should be held accountable and charged with a criminal offence such as perverting the course of justice.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
Depending on the circumstances people who have made false accusations of sexual offences could be prosecuted for either wasting police time or perverting the course of justice.
Decisions prosecuting alleged crimes, including what offence someone is prosecuted for, are a matter for the Crown Prosecution Service, not the Government or Parliament.
