Allow Private Hire Taxi Drivers to remain as Self Employed through an Operator.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Allow Private Hire Taxi Drivers to remain as Self Employed when working through a Licensed Private Hire Operator rather than being forced into Worker Status, Self Employed Drivers do not wish to follow the model of the App only ride share companies following recent Court rulings.
I believe Self Employed Taxi Drivers who do not work through an operator who collects full payment from the customer on a ride share system and then pay an amount less commission to the driver need to drive as workers. The current Self Employed Drivers enjoy working on a system that allows them to take payment from the customer via card or cash whilst working hours they choose on as many operators systems as they choose, Worker status will soon include all Self Employed / Commission Workers .

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. Court rulings about the employment status of specific groups are a matter for the courts, rather than for the Government or Parliament.
