Provide barge ship accommodation for MPs and remove their second home allowance.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Provide "perfectly decent accomodation", for sitting MPs when in Westminister to reduce the burden placed on the public purse by the second home allowance.
The burden of accommodating MPs in second homes, when performing their public duties, shouldn't rest on the tax payer if perfectly decent accommodation can be provided. Therefore, in using barge ships, like the Bibby Stockholm, we the taxpayer would see significant reductions in unnecessary costs.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
