Implement 3-day weekends (Fri, Sat, Sun), 4-day work weeks, for everyone

Rejected 19 signatures

What the petition asks

Extend weekends from 2 days to 3 days, to include Friday.

Keep public and bank holidays the same, so e.g. bank holiday Mondays remain unaffected.

Investigate countries where 4-day work weeks are already implemented to review benefits of shorter work weeks
Happier population!

Purpose
Is there not more to human life than working to survive, then eventually dying?

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

The Government is not responsible for the length of the weekend for working people. Decisions about working times are a matter for individual businesses and workers.

We have published the following petitions, which you might like to sign:

Implement measures to support a 4-day work week: Implement measures to support a 4-day work week

Reduce maximum working hours to four 10-hour days: Reduce maximum working hours to four 10-hour days

If you want the Government to take other actions to restrict working hours or support the implementation of a four-day week you could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. If you want to start a new petition you'd need to provide your full name.
