Create standard mark for GCSE grade 4
Rejected
9 signatures
What the petition asks
Create a specific mark to award GCSE grade 4 to give all students opportunity to achieve a pass.
The current system unjustly ensures some students can never pass regardless of national outcomes. This limits a large proportion of students from achieving A-levels, even if they have the capability to be on these courses. This system limits capabilities and opportunities of young people, education in the twenty-first century should promote students' futures rather than limiting opportunities.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
Decisions about grading for exams are a matter for exam boards, individual schools and Ofqual.
