What the petition asks
This inquiry should look at how the Local Government Finance act 1992 and subsequent Council tax administration and enforcement regulations 1992 are working in practice.
This should include looking at the burden it places on people, how it is enforced when people don’t pay and how the money is spent by local councils.
I believe that council tax is an unnecessary financial burden causing distress and pain upon millions who can barely afford essentials of living. Groups of people have researched the legislation, challenged councils, and discovered problems with how it is being administered. A public inquiry is needed especially in light of the current 'collapsing' councils. Where has all the money gone?
