What the petition asks
The Bereavement Support Payment should be changed to ensure that regardless of whether or not you claim child benefit or are pregnant, you should still be eligible for help from the government, if you are living together as though you were married.
The current criteria to be eligible is, you were married or in a registered civil partnership, or living together as though you were married. This should be it, however, if you are just living together, there is more criteria, you have to be: getting child benefit, eligible for child benefit, or pregnant.
In times of grief, people should not have to sell their family car or take loans out to be able to pay for the funeral, or to live semi-normal life’s after such heartbreaking circumstances.
