Require police to attend every retail shop theft

What the petition asks
The Government should require the police to attend every reported shop theft. Retailers feel unprotected and there has been a massive growth in offences.
In 2014, shop theft of goods below £200 was made a summary offence.
I am a retailer based in Cambridge. I have been campaigning on this subject for many years. I believe that the crime of shop theft has become regarded by the public as a lesser form of crime. Recently various factors have conspired to see a large growth in the number of incidents. If this situation is allowed to continue and to escalate I believe it will become the norm and be impossible tide to turn back. The government must act now before it is too late.
