Include single sex toilet facilities alongside multi sex facilities in schools

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

To review regulations to include single sex toilet facilities within schools alongside multi sex facilities as the guidance is not, at present statutory and guidance is loosely being followed without structure. Schools need to provide facilities inclusive of all gender orientations.
Whilst I recognise the need to accommodate all gender orientations when using toilet facilities in our ever changing society, I also recognise the need for Male and female facilities to be available in schools to provide equality for all students as well as maintaining young females safety and dignity. Students have the right to feel safe and included in their education setting as well as ensuring all are safeguarded.

Why it was rejected

There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.

You may wish to sign this petition which calls for a similar action: Require all education settings provide separate sex toilets from age 4 and up

The School Premises (England) Regulations 2012 already require schools to have separate toilet facilities for boys and girls aged 8 years or over, except where the toilet facility is provided in a room that can be secured from the inside and that is intended for use by one pupil at a time: https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2012/1943/regulation/4/made
