Insist that Travel Insurance companies cover the costs from cancelled flights.

Rejected 17 signatures

What the petition asks

Travel Insurance companies should be made to cover the subsequent expenses incurred by their customers as a result of airlines cancelling flights.
Travellers are often mislead by travel insurers into taking out additional cover for delays and cancellations only to be met with a standard pay-off that is well under the additional costs they had to spend as a result of cancelled flights. Travel insurers insist that it is not included in their policies and consumers need to take this up directly with the airlines. This should be handled by travel insurance companies directly with the airlines. Can you imagine if car insurance worked this way?

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Decisions about what policies to offer and what compensation customers are entitled to for cancelled flights are a matter for insurance companies, not the UK Government or Parliament.
