Make it a specific offence for motorists to hit a cat

What the petition asks
Cats are not just a pet, many people consider them a family member and a lot of people only have their cats to count on and by people's negligence and inability to use their brakes people then suffer this heartbreak. At present people can get away with it.
The law must be changed! We are going into 2024 and still people are living without their furry companion. People should have justice! Any animal should be allowed to roam free without harm. What is this world coming too? I have just lost my cat and believe the Government should make it a specific offence for motorists to hit a cat.
