We want the government to extend the ENCTS pass to allow free local train travel

Rejected 12 signatures

What the petition asks

We want the government to empower campaign groups to require a simple survey of 400 ENCTS pass holders for provision of free local train concessions via the existing budget by the ENCTS pass scheme to enable constituents, charities and local groups to help improve elderly lives and opportunities
Poverty, loneliness, alienation, poor housing, both physical and mental ill-health and now a cost of living crisis have hit pensioners hard in a country with a low state pension. The concession will go some way to alleviating many these wholly avoidable situations. Winter fuel deaths in over 65’s nationally have annually ranged from 30,000 - 50,000 and the covid related deaths not restoring the concession will simply add to the totals in regions along with the misery of poverty and ill-health.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure if you want the Government to extend the England national concessionary travel scheme (ENCTS) to local train travel, or if you want the Government to pilot extending the ENCTS in this way, or if you want the Government to take some other action.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
