Increase the taxes on fireworks

Closed 40 signatures

What the petition asks

The Government should increase sale taxes of fireworks, and use the income for UK decarbonisation projects and to fund animal-welfare related non-profit organisations.
1.Fireworks cause a lot of pollution to the air, soil and water, let alone the CO2 emissions
2. Fireworks also distress animals, causing anxiety and sometimes sudden death.
3. Those who enjoy fireworks should pay additional tax so those who suffer can get more help.
4. This money could help fund big decarbonisation projects that cost billions, like CCS, CCU and electrolysis.

Why not start with something small that could raise funds for effective schemes that can deliver results.
