Provide compensation to energy customers who have had prepayment meters

What the petition asks
The Government has announced that bills for energy customers on prepayment meters will be brought in line with those who pay by direct debit, but we want the Government to provide compensation to energy customers for additional money they have previously paid because they had prepayment meters.
It is unfair that people with the lowest incomes and often the most vulnerable have paid a higher unit tariff than those with more stable incomes who are on direct debit.
For the sake of fairness, all customers who have paid a higher per unit of electricity because they have had a prepayment meter should be paid compensation.
For the sake of fairness, all customers who have paid a higher per unit of electricity because they have had a prepayment meter should be paid compensation.
