Fund sustainable, affordable housing for first-time buyers and families

Closed 32 signatures

What the petition asks

Provide funding for affordable, family-oriented homes for first-time buyers and families, sold at cost with sustainable features: solar panels and electric car charging, and a 12-year occupancy rule after which any sale can't exceed original price plus the rate of inflation over those 12 years.
Homes are strictly for owner-occupied living, not to be used as rental properties. If the homeowner decides to sell the property, the selling price shouldn't exceed the original purchase price plus the rate of inflation over those 12 years. Renting the properties should be forbidden to ensure the properties are always available for families and first time buyers. Once the property is deemed unfit for habitation, it should be demolished and the land repurposed for further affordable housing.
