Reverse the decision to severely restrict new onshore wind farms

Rejected 12 signatures

What the petition asks

Taking full account of the environmental impacts of onshore wind turbines, legislate to facilitate the construction and operation of new wind farms. Ensuring local communities benefit from their operation.
At a time when energy security, the drive to Net Zero and a cost-of-living crisis are all priority issues, one of the most efficient and low-cost means of domestic energy generation needs to be enabled and promoted by the UK Government. This would encourage long-term technology advancement to position the UK as a leading global supplier of such systems.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

The Government has recently reformed restrictions introduced in 2015, making it easier for local planning authorities to approve onshore wind developments. The Government could further reduce restrictions, however it is not clear from your petition exactly what changes you would like to see. You could submit another petition, stating clearly what changes you would like to see made to these restrictions.
