Don't treat tax rebates as income for Universal Credit

Closed 36 signatures

What the petition asks

If Universal Credit claimants are refunded tax due to over payments, this is treated as income for Universal Credit, leading to reduced payments. This can be a major factor in the ability of families to manage their finances, and we believe is detrimental.
This could be a huge help to some low income families. It surely would ease the annual costs of living crisis for thousands of citizens of the UK, and benefit the working people of the country.
