Introduce fines for PIP assessment companies if decision is overturned on appeal

Closed 181 signatures

What the petition asks

Many PIP assessment decisions are overturned either at mandatory reconsideration or at a tribunal. This is a wasteful use of Government resources and causes unnecessary stress for claimants. We want fines to be levied on companies conducting PIP assessments if a decision is overturned on appeal.
We believe that in order to enable a correct, fair, and better claimant experience, the assessment companies should be penalised financially when a decision is overturned. This petition calls for the Government to implement this. This could be done by removing the fee paid plus a 50% surcharge from the payments made to the assessment companies. This should help make sure that assessors and companies do the job correctly the first time, and could save the Government money and claimants stress.
