Use Proportional Representation for UK General Elections

What the petition asks
Introduce legislation that will replace First-Past-The-Post with Proportional Representation when deciding the outcome of General Elections.
We believe it cannot be said that we live within a thriving democracy when as little as 35% of the popular vote can enable a party to form a majority government. Millions of votes are completely wasted as a result of safe seats and first past the post voting. We believe the current system creates a disconnect between politicians and the people. In many safe seats opposition candidates will not waste resources on canvassing for votes. We think reform is needed for the diversity and inclusion of views in Parliament to reflect society.
