Stop sale of Arundel Road council car park

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Arundel Road council car park:
To my neighbours on the trading estate,

The council carpark behind MAK electricals on Arundel road is being sold for development.

Postcode: UB8 2RP

Freehold land registry title no. AGL199136

This would cause huge parking issues for the estate.
The problems this will cause are:

Parking chaos for estate
More traffic from development
This area is a zone 2 flood risk. Clearing the land will increase risk of flood to businesses
Green belt land is eligible to be cleared and have temporary structures on it (cargo containers) - increasing flood risk further
Otters inhabit the Colne river. Destruction of habitat may change this
The UK has 98% of the chalk rivers in the world. The Colne river is one of them.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Decisions about the sale of local assets are a matter for individual local authorities, not the UK Government or Parliament.

You could raise your issue with a local councillor who represents you. You can find out who your local councillors are, and how to contact them, by entering your post code here: https://www.gov.uk/find-your-local-councillors
