Make it illegal to smoke on hospital grounds

What the petition asks
We want the Government to implement a law to make it illegal to smoke on hospital grounds, with fines for offenders. We believe signs are not working and staff do not possess the confidence to challenge patients/visitors smoking currently.
We are concerned about smoking at hospitals, and believe the smoke free signage used by many hospitals is not effective.
Smoking poses a risk to patients and visitors attending the site, and smoke inhalation should not be a concern when attending an appointment at a hospital, especially when this is already meant to be a ‘smokefree site’.
