Introduce a scheme to licence all tradespeople in the construction industry

Rejected 16 signatures

What the petition asks

Create an ombudsman or other such authoritative body, beyond the judicial system in which construction workers operate.
The current recourse system to claim for defective work, chase money due back to customers is both archaic, stressful and this petition shall evidence - unfair.
I believe that the government should step in and provide licencing to construction workers in a not for profit manner.
I believe that such a scheme would protect homeowners, and clients of the trades and ensure that they are protected by a government ran scheme of "licenced" contractors and have an independent review process in the event of any dispute in a speedy manner outside of the court system.
It would be outlawed to hire a contractor or operate as one without a licence to trade
