What the petition asks
We received an unjust speeding ticket.I was driving on the A20 in Sidcup. We urge responsible authorities - to correct this error promptly and cancel any fines issued up to the moment of corrections of signage.
This discrepancy between signage 50mph and 40mph and enforcement is not just misleading but also unfair for law-abiding citizens who rely on these signs for accurate information. It affects all motorists using this stretch of road and potentially contributes to an increased number of unwarranted speeding tickets in our community, incorrect or misleading road signs can lead to unnecessary confusion among drivers and may even contribute towards accidents.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
Decisions about overturning speeding fines are a matter for the relevant police force and the courts, not the UK Government or Parliament.
