Standardise Rail Fares
Rejected

What the petition asks
Rail fares are a minefield and the prices seem random yet distances remain the same. Trains from York to London with the same rail company with only 4 minutes difference in timing can make a difference of over £12 in cost and not at peak times. If I look at a train, check later, price has increased
If we are trying to stop people using cars and use other forms of transport we should make it easy to do so. Train fares are random for the same distance, we need consistency and not to be held to ransom by our train companies.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly that you would like the Government to legislate for fixed train prices that are based on distance travelled, and/or ban off-peak and advanced tickets, if that's what you would like to happen.
