Lower income tax and VAT rate for working class
Rejected
10 signatures
What the petition asks
Income tax is far too high for lower class citizens. An increase in personal allowance would be a better way of tackling the cost of living crisis. Or as a whole rework tax rates to better suite the economy and working class.
Cost of living crisis has confidently affected families from purchasing essential needs such as food and water. Despite all of this people are struggling to even pay bare minimum for bills and services (Rent, gas bill etc). As the foundation of this country we shouldn't be struggling for essential needs .
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you want to see changes to UK taxes, but we're not sure exactly what changes you want to be made to which taxes. We could accept a petition calling on the Government to reduce income tax rates for people earning below a certain amount, if that's what you want to happen.
