Require explicit consent for selling and sharing, for money, any personal data

What the petition asks
Currently, personal data can be shared if one of several conditions is met, depending upon the context. I would like a change to legislation so that personal data can only be sold and/or shared for money, if explicit written consent is given by the person to whom the data belongs.
The selling and sharing for financial gain/ to make money of personal data (and other inappropriate sharing) can lead to fraud and financial crime, as well as identity theft. We believe current rules put people at risk of harm.
If the UK Government is serious about combating fraud/financial crime/terrorist financing, we believe it also needs to introduce stricter rules regarding the sharing of personal data.
