What the petition asks
Stop schools making children wear a blazer, shirt and tie as a uniform. It's 2024 and the school uniform is so old fashioned. Majority of work places are now smart casual. Schools need to follow this trend and go more smart casual. Trousers, shoes and polo with school logo. #nomoreschoolblazers
The current uniform is outdated in majority of schools. No child should be forced to wear a blazer, shirt and tie. All uniforms should be smart casual. Polo, trousers and shoes and a shorts option for summer. It would be cost effective for families. Children with ADHD or autism would prefer smart casual uniform because children don't like feeling restricted. It would create a happier environment in schools. I think this is a really serious issue and it needs addressing. Please get with the times
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
We can accept petitions calling on the Government to ban schools from setting school uniforms, but where a school chooses to have a school uniform, decisions about what students are required to wear are a matter for individual schools, not the UK Government or Parliament.
