What the petition asks
Raise the wage for people who work in childcare! All teachers and nurses went on strike and yet nursery workers didn't! We work so hard and have so many policies and procedures to follow and for working mum's it's not worth working as the childcare costs are more than our wages!!
Because this industry is struggling to recruit and it's because the lack of pay! I have been in childcare for 14 years and I am considering a career change for the lack of pay!
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
Decisions about pay for staff in the early years sector are a matter for their employers, not the UK Government or Parliament.
We could accept a petition around increasing funding for early years providers.
For example, we've previously opened the following: Increase funding for early years settings
