Ban animal traps, snares and poison that injure or kill animals

Closed 122 signatures

What the petition asks

I would like the government to pass a law banning the setting of animal traps and snares which can cause injury or death to the trapped animal. Poisons can not only kill the animal that consumes the poison but can also kill predatory animals further up the food chain.
Traps and snares can be indiscriminate and quite often do not kill the intended target. An animal caught in a trap or snare does not always die immediately and can endure hours of suffering before it succumbs to its injuries. Sometimes losing a limb in its efforts to escape.

Poisons can inflict a slow and painful death to the victim. The poisoned body can then be eaten by a domestic pet or a predatory animal poisoning them as well. Some of our endangered wildlife such as owls are killed in this way.
