Ensure every Jobcentre has a private room for interviews by the end of 2024

Closed 135 signatures

What the petition asks

A recent freedom of information request to the DWP confirmed that only 30% of job centres have private rooms available.
At a minimum we want every Jobcentre to have a private interview room, in order to provide privacy and dignity to service users.

Jobcentres are often set up with an 'open office' layout, where it can be possible to overhear conversations and personal details from other service users.

This does not seem appropriate for sensitive conversations, especially those that involve details of trauma, disability, mental health or past abuse.

Private rooms could enable claimants to feel safe to discuss their circumstances, without other people listening in and help preserve their dignity.

Every Jobcentre should have a private interview room.
