Reintroduce UK National ID cards for British citizens.

What the petition asks
We want the government to bring back national ID cards for British citizens. We think this would provide an easy and affordable way for everyone to prove their identity, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all.
Passports are costly, and some people can't obtain a driving licence due to age or medical reasons. In our view, many alternative forms of ID aren’t widely accepted, creating barriers for accessing essential services. We think a national ID card would offer a reliable solution, helping everyone, especially those who face challenges with current identification methods, to engage fully in society. We think people should be able to choose to acquire a National ID card, it should not be mandatory.
