What the petition asks
We would like standardised DA Training to be Mandatory for All Family Law Professionals, and for the Government to provide funding for this, and to enforce this requirement.
We believe this would help:
Protect survivors and children: Professionals must recognise abuse, especially coercive control, to ensure safety & well-being
Improve justice outcomes: Training helps ensure professionals understand domestic abuse, preventing misuse of the legal system by abusers
Create consistency: Standardised training leads to fairer, safer outcomes in family law cases
Prevent harm: Inadequate training risks re-traumatising victims, unsafe decisions, & misidentifying abusers in cases of manipulation & control
