Remove requirement to have motor insurance unless you have past driving offences

What the petition asks
We think car insurance being compulsory allows insurance companies to take advantage, hike their prices and ask for extortionate prices, especially for young drivers. We feel this gives drivers no choice, and puts extra strain on cost of living for many people.
We think that if car insurance is optional, it should remain mandatory for drivers with points/previous driving offences, like in other countries such as New Zealand, where people have the option to purchase insurance, at prices we feel are much fairer, as we think insurance companies may be less inclined to hike prices if it’s not a mandatory obligation.
We think this is a genuine way to help reduce driver's insurance prices for many people across the country.
