What the petition asks

• Prohibiting knighthoods & other honours for serving MPs and mayors.
• A 5-year cooling-off period after leaving office before they become eligible.
• Establishing an independent body to evaluate nominations based on merit.

I believe awarding knighthoods to serving politicians raises serious concerns about conflicts of interest & the integrity of honours. I think it can be perceived as rewarding political loyalty rather than merit, potentially influencing decision-making & eroding public trust. I believe any cronyism could undermine the credibility of honours. I think having a cool off period & independent evaluation would preserve the system's credibility, ensuring awards are based on genuine public service.
