Petition

Require Cyclists to adhere to the Road Traffic ACT & Highway Code

Rejected 9 signatures

What the petition asks

Cyclists when using public roads should be subject to, and bound by the same Road Traffic Act and Highway Code that motorists are.
ALL road users should be obliged to understand, recognise and adhere to traffic signals and signage and have Lighting and other forms of hi-visibility at night
Government have for years promoted cycling and given cyclists greater priority on the roads, but have failed to address Cyclists lack of adherence to the Law or suitably considered the Duty of Care that is owed to their Health & Safety and that of other road users.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

The Highway Code already applies to cyclists.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
