What the petition asks
The HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) plays a vital role in collecting taxes and ensuring compliance with the UK’s tax laws. However, many taxpayers have reported issues with HMRC’s processes, including unjustified demands for tax payments from years prior.
We, the undersigned, call on the UK Parliament to initiate an independent review of HMRC. This should focus on the following:
1. Transparency and Proof: Ensure that HMRC provides clear and sufficient evidence before issuing tax demands.
2. Fair Practices: Review cases of backdated tax claims to ensure they are lawful and substantiated.
3. Public Accountability: Identify any systemic issues within HMRC’s operations
