Petition
Grant Oldham Council’s call for a Public Enquiry into Child Sexual Exploitation

What the petition asks
We request Government accede to Oldham’s request for an enquiry into Child Sex Exploitation in the Borough, and request that the Government consider widening this to cover Child Sex Abuse and Grooming activity across the UK, irrespective of who the perpetrators may be.
There have been a significant number of proven instances of child sex abuse, and grooming, across the UK in recent years. Many of these have resulted, often belatedly, in successful prosecutions, but limited attempts have been made to ascertain what lies behind these offences.
In addition, there are a growing number of reports of victims asserting that various authorities were aware of their plight, but failed to provide appropriate protection or recourse for them.
We now need the facts.
