Petition

Prevent landlords from profiting from tenants, and extorting tenants

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

We want the Government to make it illegal to operate a business that relies on people needing a safe place to live.

No landlord should be profiting from people needing a safe place to live

No landlord should be putting the rent up at every opportunity

Action will cause house prices to drop.
Landlords use the phrase "it's a business not a charity" while looking for the next best opportunity to increase the rent.

If action isn't taken to prevent landlords continued abuse of power, it will result in utter catastrophic widespread social unrest, protests, riots, vandalism, arson, and worse.

The British government needs to provide safe, affordable housing for the British people and prevent landlords from purchasing property to be used for taking advantage of the poor and working class.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We understand you're concerned about landlords profiting from people needing somewhere to live. We are unsure if you'd like there to be a complete ban on private landlords, or if you'd like there to be a ban on landlords making profit.

You could start a petition setting out clearly what you'd like.
